Who it applies to

MTD applies to your situation.

If you earn above the threshold from self-employment or property, MTD is mandatory from April 2026. Missing it means penalties — HMRC's new points-based system starts immediately.

Sole traders

Any self-employed income above the threshold — shops, tradespeople, consultants, creatives.

Landlords

Rental income from residential or commercial property, furnished holiday lets included.

Freelancers

Consulting, contracting, creative work — if it's self-employed income, MTD applies.

Combined income

Both self-employed and landlord income counts towards your threshold — combined totals trigger MTD.

The process

Three steps. Zero complexity.

Step 01

Free 15-Minute Call

We confirm your MTD position, income structure, and software preference. By the end you know exactly what your plan includes and what it costs.

Step 02

Registration & Setup

We register you with HMRC, set up your software (Xero, QuickBooks, or FreeAgent), and connect everything. Usually complete within the first week.

Step 03

Four Deadlines a Year

Your named accountant handles every quarterly submission and the final year-end declaration. You'll never miss a tax deadline again.

Everything tailored to you
Your income type — sole trader, landlord, or both — determines the submission structure
Your preferred software — Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent or an alternative
Your quarterly schedule — aligned to the HMRC periods that apply to you
Your monthly fee — agreed before you commit, no hidden add-ons
Your plan

Built on the first call, running from day one.

Every plan starts with a free 15-minute call. We understand your situation, confirm your software, and agree your monthly fee before you commit to anything.

No contracts to sign online, no direct debits before we've spoken, no hidden add-ons. What we quote is what you pay.

Common questions

Questions about your plan.

Your plan is built around your specific income sources, your chosen accounting software, and the HMRC quarterly periods that apply to you. The monthly fee reflects your complexity — a straightforward sole trader pays less than someone with multiple income streams. Everything is confirmed before you sign anything.
We'll call you within one business day to book your free 15-minute consultation. On that call we confirm your MTD position, discuss your software options, and give you a fixed monthly fee. There's no obligation and no payment taken until you're ready to proceed.
The MTD plan covers registration, quarterly submissions, and the end-of-year declaration — which replaces Self Assessment. For sole traders this is typically everything you need. If you require additional services such as bookkeeping, VAT returns, or company accounts, we can discuss those on the call.
Yes — switching accountants is a standard process. We handle the professional clearance with your existing accountant, transfer your HMRC authorisations, and migrate any software access. Most clients are fully transferred within a week with no disruption to their records.
HMRC has confirmed a points-based penalty system for late MTD submissions. HMRC has not committed to a formal soft landing for MTD ITSA. We recommend registering and filing on time from day one to avoid accumulating penalty points.
MTD requires HMRC-approved software. We work with Xero, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent. We recommend the right platform for your situation and help you get set up. Software costs are separate (typically £12–£25/month) but we'll walk you through the options and configure everything for you.
